Somebody's Got A Monopoly On The Jazz FT Satan

lyrics

You can’t hide your heartbeat, when it races.
Just like I can’t hide my face of anguish,
When I read between the lines of your restrained lips.
Demons just beneath the surface, seep out between your words.
Between us, in this silent wordlessness,
I await the serpent’s kiss.
Patience is a virtue, and bliss is simple ignorance.
A simple dismissal of truth, and the pain it imbues.
In favor of delusion and idealistic illusions,
Instead of truth’s bruises and realistic conclusions.
But I do not accept this reality,
Because I believe in gravity.
Life is just insanity, and you cannot damage me.
Nor can you change this beast, just re-arrange things
And claim a piece.
A permanent residence in my dreams.
Can you come turn off my light one last time?
So that you can say goodbye, and I can be reminded why I ever tried.
And why it is I’m like this.
What is this mindset?
What time is it anyways?
Have I wasted another day?
Another hour devoured, sixty minutes of sourness.
Plus another sixty of clouds, add another thousand of doubt
To round it all out,
And that’s about all it takes to put out the flame in my psyche.
And fuckin’ raise hell inside me.
Tonight, the darkness outside is quite inviting.
I remember wanting to fly.
To close my eyes, spread my limbs.
And pray to whatever god there is, that I don’t hit the fucking fence
When my feet leave the ledge.
When the finally do, I hope you’re there to witness
My hubris on this crucifix.
It’s days like today I wish not to participate.
I wish not to play the game, engaging in conversations
Lacking communication.
I wish to fade. I wish to step away.
To run until my legs give way, until my bones break.
I wanna burn this book today. Get it over with.
So that I don’t have to feel the pain of watching my words fade.
Of knowing my work was in vain.
Erase every single page, and start over with a blank state.
No more lines this time,
Just a book filled with reasons why I need to stay alive.
Because I need to be reminded sometimes.
